June Morente of the Business & Professional Women’s Club
June F. (Ware) Morente
AGE: 80 • Wilmington
June passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17th, 2014 at age 80. June or ‘Sis’ was the daughter and one of 14 children to Beatrice and Hiram Ware. June attended the Claymont Stone School and Eddystone High School. A graduate from Houghton College, June taught at P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington for several years.
June left teaching to become a co-manager and owner of Brandywine Flowers, Inc. where she helped guide the business for 50 years before retiring in 2010. She was very active in BPW – Business and Professional Women of Delaware, serving as their president in 1983. She was a resident of the Arden’s for over 50 years and an avid reader.
June loved to travel the world with her husband of 35 years, Ed and her children. June always took time to soak in colorful sunsets whether amidst the beauty and serenity of the mountains or next to the crashing waves of the surf and scent of salt water.
June was an ardent Phillies fan who didn’t miss a game, passing the winter with her internal count-down clock to spring training and the day when pitchers and catchers reported.
June’s greatest pleasure was her family, whether visiting with her brothers and sisters and their families at a Ware family gathering or at the ball field cheering on her grandchildren. June is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Laurie Morente of Wilmington, grandsons; Stephen (Missoula, MT) and Matthew of Wilmington. Brothers and sisters; Richard (June) Ware, Jim (Sue) Ware, Bob (Shannon) Ware, John (Kathy) Ware, Linda (Bill) Timchak, Vel (Doyle) Pointer and Gerri Tress. Sisters-in-law; Edie Ware, Charlene Ware and Rebecca Ware and dozens of dear nieces and nephews. June was predeceased by her son, Stephen, brothers Arthur, Hiram, David and Paul and sisters Laura May and Nancy.
Service will be Friday, October 24, 2014 at 4pm, visitation will begin at 2pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be held privately.
