Bill Doerflinger, Playhouse Theatre
William Hasler Doerflinger
Age 83, of Hilton Head Island, SC, and formerly of Wilmington, DE, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008, after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 5, 1924 in Williamsport, PA, a son of the late Mary Hasler and Gustave A. Doerflinger. As a member of the 115th Antiaircraft Gun Division in World War II, he participated in the Allied liberation of Europe in June, 1944. He was a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He retired in 1986 after a 44-year career with the DuPont Company where he served as General Manager of The Playhouse Theatre in Wilmington, Delaware from 1952 to 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley of Hilton Head Island, SC; a brother, Gustave A. Doerflinger of Wilmington, DE; and a half brother, John Dieffenderfer of Mar Lin, PA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Knaut.
