Richard T. Young, 64, of Middletown, DE passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Born on October 11, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William T. and Jeanette (Bromwell) Young. Richard was a graduate of Salesianum School and Golden Beacom Business College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Richard worked at and managed several family restaurants for 20 years. He and his brother, David, established the wildly successful Magic Wok in Concord Pike in1979, where they enjoyed working together for the next ten years. Richard semi-retired during the late 90’s, but continued to travel between Florida and Nantucket as a private chef. In 2002 he returned to Delaware and made his residence in Middletown. He enjoyed preparing meals and shopping for residents at Connections CSP, Inc. in Blackbird, where he never missed a day. Until his recent illness, he enjoyed working on the farm, taking care of the horses, stacking hay and doing countless other farm chores. Richard will always be remembered for his wonderful work ethic, happy optimism, crazy sense of humor and his kind and gentle manner. He is survived by two brothers, David and Robert; three sisters, Loretta, JoAnna, and Phyllis and a very special niece, Maressa. Memorial services will be held 11 am on Saturday, August 22nd at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 North Broad Street, Middletown, DE where family and friends may visit from 10-11. Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Connections CSP, Inc., Development Office, 500 W. Tenth Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
